IDCBA is a unique, non-profit organization whose purpose is to:

Improve Dog Legislation in the State of Illinois

Influence New Dog Legislation in the State of Illinois

Promote the Welfare of Dogs in the State of Illinois

The IDCBA meets its goals by:

Raising funds to monitor bills which might affect dog ownership and particularly the purebred dog fancy. The IDCBA, using the advice and resources of the AKC, and the dog fancy itself, works to handle these proposal so that those detrimental to dog owners and to the purebred dog fancy have been prevented at the state level in Illinois.

Examples: To allow insurance companies to limit household insurance when certain breeds are present -- stopped; Breed-specific legislation at the State level -- prevented; Proposed requirements for licensing of grooming, health care, and other activities that would prevent common practices that breeders reasonably do on their own -- stopped.

Publishing an annual directory of members and member clubs that is sent directly to all veterinarians in the state of Illinois.

How many people are told to "ask their local vet" for information on clubs or "dog" activities in your area? How do you think the vet gets that information? From the IDCBA Directory! Your club should be listed!

Publishing a newsletter, Dog Talk, which is sent to all members and member clubs, and which summarizes dog legislative activity throughout the state, and lists tactics to anticipate, forstall, and prevent them.

The IDCBA newsletter is produced approximately quarterly. It provides a point of reference and keeps all clubs and members current on IDCBA activity.

CAN YOUR CLUB AFFORD TO NOT BE INVOLVED?

The annual Club Membership Fee (currently $45) entitles the member club to a listing in the Annual IDCBA Directory, to receipt of Dog Talk, and entitles the club to send two delegates to the IDCBA Annual Meeting.

Most of all, your club membership indicates active support of the Future of the sport and the world of purebred dogs.
